Quality Philosophy At Sparton

Our quality rating is one of the most important metrics we have with our customers and has earned us years of continued success by pleasing customers. At Sparton our quality goes far beyond dimensional accuracy. We strive to supply our customers with parts that are physically more attractive, cleaner, and better packed than our peers. Throughout our nearly 40 year history countless customers tell us that our parts stand out from the competition and can be picked out of an assembly of (multiple suppliers) mechanical parts. We make your parts shine!

How do we do it?

Simple, we care and commit ourselves to this goal. We do our very best to make parts to print, and we have trained inspectors on staff to verify that all of our process are in control.

We have always invested the resources necessary to buy advanced measuring instruments and testing equipment so that our capabilities of measuring part features are far faster and more advanced than the majority of our peers or customers. Unlike so many of our peers, especially in the fabrication world, if we can manufacture something, we can measure it. We have more inspection equipment than most competitors and customers, and we have skilled inspectors that really know how to measure features.

It sounds simple and easy, but we dare you to compare your current supplier's inspection staff, equipment, and know how, to ours here at Sparton. We surely stand out, a cut above.

The Process

To maintain our high standards of quality, our production process follows a very traditional inspection plan that has been all but abandoned by many of our competitors. We actually perform a physical inspection of all jobs utilizing MIL-105 sampling levels at an AQL of 1.0. This is a critical step in today's manufacturing environment with compressed lead times and dock-to-stock kanban programs. Customers cannot afford to find mechanical or paint defects once parts are in their facility. A smart and efficient mechanical final inspection is necessary to be a first class supplier.

Incoming Inspection

All raw material is inspected before being utilized for inventory or jobs. Parts returning to our facility from our subcontractors are inspected for adherence to both customer specifications and Sparton's stringent quality requirements.

First Article Inspection

First article inspections are performed by our quality team at each operation to assure that defects are caught ASAP.

Final Inspection

Final inspections are performed before each job leaves the plant and any assuring that our inspectors catch any defect before they arrive at your plant.

Mitutoyo Quick Vision 3D Measurement System

The Quick Vision is a programmable automated inspection machine that can accurately inspect 3D parts (not just flat parts) without an operator. This keeps our CNC production equipment making more parts that are always inspected at the proper intervals. In process inspections are a breeze!

Laser Inspection

(1) Fabrivision 3D Laser Inspection

The Fabrivision laser inspection system is a programmable automated inspection machine that can accurately inspect 2D parts and some 3D features (not just flat parts) in seconds. This system does away with template checking, and much of the manual measuring required to verify flat part layouts. This another way we use automation and advanced equipment to gain efficiency and higher productivity.
